Quantity Surveyor Definition:

Among various definitions are 'the economist of the construction industry' and 'one who advices on all cost and contractual arrangements and acts as the accountant of the project'. A quantity surveyor is concerned with construction and provides a link between the architect and the contractor. He is consulted by the architect or engineer responsible for the design and advises on probable costs, perhaps considering alternative possibilities of structure, layout or materials. When the design is complete, he prepares a bill of quantities concerning labor and material required.
